adjective and noun forming suffixes

Noun forming suffixes:

-hood: condition /for example: childhood
-ness: quality /for example: goodness
-ance, -ence: state, fact, act/for example: independence
-ation, -ition,-tion: action or state/for example: celebration
-ity, -ty: quality/for example: ability
-ment: result or action/for example: employment

Number your paper from 1-10. Form nouns using the above suffixes ; then define the new words. Spelling changes will be necessary.

adjective forming suffixes:


-ish: like or suggesting /for example: foolish
-able, -ible: able /for example: tolerable
-ous: having the quality of /for example: religious
-esque: like /for example: statuesque
-some: like or tending to /for example: tiresome
